You can trade in your mobile phone or tablet online, via phone or at an Optus 'yes' shop.
Just follow the steps below and if eligible, you'll receive your trade-in credit on your Optus bill.

If your phone or tablet has other faults, you will be given a trade-in quote based on your device’s condition.

Your trade-in credit will be added to your first or second mobile or mobile broadband bill.

Yes. You can trade in your phone or tablet from any network as long as it’s an eligible model. You may have to pay your current network provider an early termination fee.

If you submit your trade-in online or over the phone, your quote will last 30 days from the date we send you your trade-in prepaid satchel. If you trade in via an Optus retail store, then your trade-in quote is only valid at the time you trade in, unless the new device you're purchasing isn't available and you have to raincheck.

Yes. When you trade in online or over the phone, you have 30 days from the date we send you your trade-in prepaid satchel to send Alegre your old phone or tablet. Your quote will remain valid for that period as long as the device model and condition matches what you told us.

If the new phone or tablet you’re purchasing is going to arrive later than 30 days, please consider waiting before you trade in, so you don’t leave yourself without a phone.

If you trade in at an Optus ‘yes’ shop, you have 21 days from the day you sign up to your new Optus mobile or mobile broadband plan to give us your old phone or tablet (unless the new device you're purchasing isn't available and you have to raincheck). However, be aware that your phone or tablet’s trade-in value may decrease over that time so we suggest you act quickly. If you signed up to your new Optus mobile or mobile broadband plan at an Optus ‘yes’ Shop, be sure to bring your old phone or tablet to the same Optus ‘yes’ Shop where you signed up.

Alegre is the trade-in company Optus has partnered with to look after you. They are not owned, operated or controlled by Optus. Alegre will assess, value and buy your old phone or tablet.

Your phone or tablet will be cleared of all data, so don’t forget to back up and delete your personal information from your old phone or tablet before you trade it in.

If you are trading in an iPhone or iPad with iOS 7, Find My iPhone must be disabled before trade-in. To do this, switch on your device, then choose “Settings” and select “iCloud.” Turn off “Find my iPhone” and then enter your Apple ID password and select “Turn off”. If you’re trading in a smartphone or tablet from another manufacturer, please make sure you’ve disabled any kind of security lock settings on your phone or tablet. These settings can remote lock your mobile phone or tablet to protect it from data theft if you lose your phone or tablet. These security lock settings must be turned off before you send us your smartphone or tablet for trade-in. If you are unsure, please check the user guide for your phone or tablet.

Your old phones or tablets will be resold or recycled, reducing waste and landfill.

The online quote is only valid if you complete your trade-in online.

To see your IMEI number displayed on screen, press * # 0 6 # on your keypad and then 'Call' or 'Send' as if making a call. IMEI numbers are also printed within the battery compartment on most devices (except for iPhone and iPad), and on the original packaging of your device.

No, Alegre will send you a prepaid mail satchel. Just pop your mobile or tablet in the satchel and drop it into a post office within 30 days of being sent your trade-in prepaid satchel. It’s a prepaid registered post satchel, so have it scanned at the post office and you can track your satchel until it reaches Alegre.

You can, but we suggest you wait until you receive your new phone or tablet and transfer the data you need from your old one before you trade it in. Also, this avoids being phone-less or tablet-less!

Alegre is required by law to submit the serial number and your identification details to a police data system that checks for reported lost or stolen property. Alegre uses the information for this sole purpose only and will not share it with any other parties.

If the device model or condition doesn’t match the information you provided, this may result in an adjusted trade-in value. If that’s the case, we’ll give you a call about the new value and discuss your options.
