Infinity War Trailer Promises Big Things for The Avengers

***Spoiler Warning: If you’re not up to date with the Avengers timeline, this might not be for you.***

Hot off the heels of Thor Ragnarok’s critical and commercial success, Avengers: Infinity War has a trailer, and it looks crazy big.

Ironman, Thor, Black Widow, Spiderman, Dr Strange… The list of characters goes on and on, with special effects and spectacle galore as the Avengers take on Thanos, the big bad of the Marvel Comic Universe.

How exactly is a single feature film going to balance such a massive cast? Probably lots of wide angle shots of armies running at each like its Lord of the Rings. Infinity War will also be followed up by a 4th and yet unnamed Avengers film. So while we only have to wait till May 2018 for the latest instalment in the Avengers franchise, we’ll probably be waiting much longer for the conclusion to this arc of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But that’s alright. As the trailer shows, Infinity War has a lot to get through.

It’s the culmination of almost 20 feature films and ten years of the MCU. Infinity War is also the reason for lots of the random bits of lore that are scattered throughout the franchise; all based around the Infinity Stones.

In case you’re not caught up on all the stuff to do with the Infinity Stones (and here comes those spoilers) there are six of them and Thanos needs them all so he can become champion of the Universe or something.

Where are the Infinity Stones exactly? Let’s break it down:

  • Power Stone: Last seen with the Nova Corps on Xandar, but clearly visible on Thanos hand in the trailer. So I guess goodbye Xandar and Glenn Close.
  • Space Stone: Aka the tesseract. Loki literally hands it to Thanos in the trailer so yeah that’s 2/6 for Purple Hellboy.
  • Mind Stone: It’s in Vision’s head. And we see it being removed. Sad times for the Vision.
  • Reality Stone: Given to the Collector (blonde Benicio Del Toro) by the Asgardians. Potentially still there.
  • Time Stone: Green stone that Doctor Strange uses to control time.
  • Soul Stone: Whereabouts unknown.

If we know anything about Marvel, it’s that things generally get worse before they get better. That means some tough times ahead for the whole team. We’ll break down some key elements of the trailer in a bigger preview. For now, just enjoy the trailer in all its glory.
