Aussie Mat Ryan on the Wrong End of Chelsea Stunner

Aussie Mat Ryan was on the wrong end of a rampant Chelsea over the weekend, though you can hardly fault him for this stunner by Willian.

It was the second goal inside of six minutes for the home side. Eden Hazard scoring first before playing a crucial role in Willian’s goal. The pair combined with Michy Batshuayi to produce a glorious piece of one touch football.

Off the back of four consecutive draws the Blues were all systems go as they put 4 past the Brighton and Socceroos keeper. Hazard scoring again later in the match with Victor Moses also adding to the scoreboard.

To the visitors credit they didn’t shy away from the contest, with Davy Propper hitting the post and two penalty appeals for Schelotto waved away. But the Blues were too strong on the day. Despite suspensions to Alvaro Morata and Pedro and missing Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater and Thibaut Courtois, Antonio Conte’s side never looked under too much pressure.

The win was good medicine for Conte, who fired back at press claims that the team was underperforming.

“Whoever said this had to pay attention to the stats. We’re unbeaten in 11 games,” he told a post-match news conference. “It's normal that the press try to see the negative aspect and don't see the positives. But this team, with many problems, are unbeaten in 11 games in every competition.”

For now, the Blues have their sights set on the Carabao Cup, with a second leg showdown against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
