It was a night of black gowns and tuxedos for the 75th Golden Globes Award Ceremony, but that didn’t mean fashion was forgotten. Fortunately, there were plenty of nominations and at least one big winner for our homegrown heroes.

Nicole Kidman claimed Best Performance for an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television in her turn as Celeste Wright in HBO's Big Little Lies. (They really need a shorter name for that award).

Kidman sparkled on stage, taking the opportunity during her acceptance speech to address how film and television can impact the world:

"I do believe and I hope we can elicit change through the stories we tell and the way we tell them. Let's keep the conversation alive, let's do it."

Hugh Jackman was also in attendance, looking pleased as punch with wife Deborra-lee Furness. The Logan’ star was nominated for The Greatest Showman, though he ultimately lost out to James Franco for The Disaster Artist. Jackman’s bewildered reaction to Franco’s win had the internet doing cartwheels.

Chris Hemsworth ran solo on the night, looking dapper in an embroidered tux. Here he is alongside Jessica Chastain. The two presented the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Award to Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, with Chastain struggling to pronounce "Sersha".

During the ceremony, the Thor actor sat alongside Angelina Jolie and New Zealand director Taika Waititi.

She may have been battling the flu, but Margot Robbie looked spectacular on the night.

The I, Tonya star was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, but missed out to Saoirse Ronan.

While the 75th Golden Globes may have been more sombre than recent award ceremonies, it was still an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse of some rising stars. 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford dazzled in Prada on the night, wearing the gown backwards in a sartorial twist.

The Perth native received a nomination for her role as Hannah Baker on the 2017 Netflix series and is one to look out for in 2018.
