Flo Rida’s Low. The iPhone 3G. Rage comics. The Dark Knight. The Pussycat Dolls. Michael Phelps dominating the Beijing Olympics. The international year of the potato. 2008 was a simpler time and we are so ready to relive those glory days. Lucky for us, trends are cyclical and 2018 is the perfect time for a 2008 revival.

Cropped leggings under everything

Under skirts, dresses, shorts – cropped leggings were comfy and were always there for us no matter the occasion. We should be there for them too.

Wide waist belts

If the high-waist trend can make it in 2018, why can’t the wide waist belt? They cinched our figures perfectly for a classic hourglass. We’ll just have to sew wider belt loops onto our jeans.

Headbands

2008 was a big year for headbands, ranging from the preppy Gossip Girl-inspired bands to the bohemian ones that always left a mark in the middle of your forehead. Headbands are truly an underrated accessory and must come back.

Shutter shades

Popularised by Kanye West’s Stronger video, shutter shades were everywhere in 2008 and deserve a place in 2018. Say what you want about them, they’re definitely a conversation starter.

Juicy Couture tracksuits

These tracksuits were the outfit of the 2000’s and we can see why: they’re attention-grabbing and comfy as hell. Why did they ever go out of style?

Maxi dresses

The boho trend hit a peak in 2008 and with it came maxi dresses. Comfortable, slouchy, and able to hide both a full stomach and a small pet underneath all that fabric. What’s not to love?

Gladiator sandals

Gladiator sandals are definitely an eye-catching style. The downside? They might leave an equally eye-catching tan line after a hot day. Oh well. If it’s good enough for Rihanna, it’s good enough for us.

Baggy boyfriend jeans

Free yourselves from the prison of tight-fitting jeans and embrace baggy boyfriend jeans. They look just as chic and let you have seconds for dinner with no problems.
