If you're an eligible Optus customer, you may be able to change your current Postpaid Mobile Broadband plan to an Optus My Mobile Broadband Plan.

To check eligibility, simply call us on 133 YES (133 937)

If you exceed the data included in your base plan, we'll increase it by 1GB for a flat fee of $10, just for that monthly billing period.

Furthermore, each time you use more than your additional 1GB level within your monthly billing period, we'll just move you up to the next 1GB level and you'll only incur an extra $10 charge for each level you use – instead of a huge excess usage fee!

The next month we'll automatically reset you back to your base plan level. Simple!

We'll automatically move you up to the next 1GB level, giving you an additional 1GB of data to use that monthly billing period for just $10.

Yes, you can have multiple mobile phones on My Plan Plus sharing their combined pool of data with up to 5 mobile broadband devices per mobile service.

All services need to be on the same account. If you use more than the combined pool, we’ll automatically top it up for just $10 per extra 1GB.

Here’s just one example:

You have one mobile phone on My Plan Plus with 5GB included data and another mobile phone on My Plan Plus with 3GB included data, both on the same billing account.

You also have 2 tablets and a WiFi modem using Data SIMs, all on Shared Data Plans, all connected to the same account as your mobiles.

All 5 devices will share a single pool of 8GB data per month. Pretty cool, huh?

Not only that, if you use more than the 8GB of data, you’ll automatically get an extra 1GB data for your combined pool for just $10. That’s 9GB to share with all 5 devices.

We’ll also send you usage alerts so you can stay in control of your spend. Plus you can set up usage alerts in My Account for your mobile broadband devices attached to your My Plan Plus..

You may be able to change your current Optus Mobile Broadband Plan to a data-sharing plan. However, you’ll need to have an active My Plan Plus mobile plan and be eligible to change your mobile broadband plan.

  • Adjust the data usage sliders related to your online activities and you'll be shown the total number of MB (Megabytes) or GB (Gigabytes) of data you might need per month.

To further protect you from unforeseen excess charges, we'll send you usage alerts letting you know when you've used 50%, 85% and 100% of your base plan's included data and when you've used 85% and 100% of your additional levels' data.

Not only will alerts help to prevent bill shock, you'll get an idea of whether you need to change to a plan that better meets your needs.

Please note that alerts may take from 24 to 48 hours to arrive.

You can easily manage your spend by checking usage and getting notifications when you've reached 85% and 100% of your data usage, online with My Account.

The usage meters in My Account will let you know:

 

  • How much of your included data you have used
  • At what point you'll be given an additional 1GB of data
  • How much more data you'll have to use for the rest of your monthly billing period
  • How much more you can expect the extra data levels to cost

 

Please note that usage notifications may take from 24 to 48 hours to appear in My Account.

Clear and simple plan inclusions mean straightforward bills that are easily understood. Your bill will show:

 

  • How much of your base plan's data you've used
  • How many additional data levels you've used and the cost
  • Recurring charges, if any, such as device repayments
  • Any additional charges for things like international roaming data, for instance

1. Included Data: will be counted in 1KB increments and includes both uploads and downloads for use in Australia. Unused data does not rollover.

2. Additional Data: is automatically charged in 1GB increments once you've exceeded your included data up to a maximum of 20GB. We may limit additional data available to you at these rates. If you use more than this we may continue to charge you at the same rates or restrict your data use that month.

3. Bundle discount: if you bundle your mobile broadband with an Optus Postpaid mobile service on the same billing account, a 25% discount will be applied to the Mobile Broadband minimum monthly access fee. The discount will appear from your first bill and is not transferable or redeemable for cash. Bundle discount will be forfeited if either service is cancelled.

Speed: Many factors affect speed such as internet traffic, your hardware and software, the source of the download and your location.

Shared Data Plan

Data Sharing: You need a mobile connected to a My Plan Plus plan to get a Shared Data Plan, with both of them connected on the same account. There is no included data in the Shared Data Plan; the mobile broadband devices use the included sharable data from any My Plan Plus plan on the same account. . If your mobile plan is cancelled, your Shared Data Plan may also be cancelled, or you will be charged $10 per 1GB data within Australia. If your Shared Data Plan is cancelled you’ll just need to pay the remainder of your device repayments (if any) plus any outstanding charges. Data sharing is only with My Plan Plus & My Plan Business plans including the SIM Only plans. It doesn’t share with other mobile and mobile broadband plans.

Coverage: With 3G devices, you can access our 3G (UMTS 2100 MHz / 900 MHz) network. With 4G devices and a compatible plan, you can access our 3G network plus some or all of our 4G Plus network. Our 4G Plus network uses multiple frequencies (LTE 700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 MHz) to provide coverage. Coverage availability will vary depending on your device and location. Check coverage at optus.com.au/shop/mobile/network/coverage based on your address and device.
Compatibility: If you bring your own device, make sure it's not locked to other networks and is compatible with the Optus network. Refer to your device user guide for specifications.
