WHAT IS 'GOOD WORKING ORDER'?
If you want to trade-up, your device needs to be in “good working order”. This means your device functions normally – that is, it makes and receives calls and texts, connects to the internet, and has normal wear and tear as listed below:
- Your device can power on and off.
- Your touchscreen is fully functional and has no imperfections such as lines or marks.
- Your device does not have any missing buttons or damage to other components such as charging ports, SIM tray.
- The device (including the touchscreen) is not cracked and does not have any severe scratches (normal wear and tear such as light marks and scratches are okay).
- Any locking features are disabled (for example, find my iPhone on iOS devices).
Frequently asked questions
You may be able to change your current Optus Mobile Broadband plan to a My Mobile Broadband Plus plan to start using the Data Pool. However, you'll need to have an active My Plan Plus (including SIM only) mobile plan, or another My Mobile Broadband Plus plan to be eligible to share data.
Great news - we'll automatically top up your data for just $10 per extra 1GB. This extra data can also be used across all devices when connected to a Data Pool.
We'll also send you usage alerts so you can monitor your spend - and, you can always see how your usage is travelling in the My Optus App.
We'll send you usage alerts once you've reached approximately 50%, 85% and 100% of your individual or pooled data inclusions.
We'll also send you usage alerts when you've reached 85% and 100% of any extra data that you use above your standard plan inclusion each month.
And, you can check usage by:
Mobile TV streaming: If you're an Optus postpaid customer on an eligible plan, you can enjoy streaming movies and TV on your mobile or tablet without using your plan's data on Yes TV by Fetch, Netflix, Stan, ABC iview, ABC KIDS iview and ABC ME. You just need subscriptions to Yes TV by Fetch, Netflix and Stan.
Music streaming: If you're an Optus customer on an eligible plan, you can enjoy Music streaming on your mobile or tablet without using your plan's data on the following streaming service apps: Google Play Music, iHeartRadio and Spotify. If you're using some premium versions of these services, you may have to pay for a subscription to these services.
You can get the Yes TV by Fetch app on your mobile broadband device if you have an Optus postpaid mobile service or Optus fixed broadband service. Unfortunately, the Yes TV by Fetch app is not available if you only have a standalone mobile broadband service.
Optus Sport: Personal viewing in Australia only. Content and features vary by device and sport. Sport coverage is available as long as you remain on an eligible plan and Optus has the rights. Optus Sport is a month-to-month subscription, which will continue until you cancel your subscription or you move to an ineligible plan. Where your plan includes Optus Sport at no additional cost, your bill will show a $15 charge and corresponding credit
Coverage: The Optus 4G Plus network is available in all capital cities and hundreds of metro, regional and holiday towns with a compatible device and plan. Coverage varies by device. Check at optus.com.au/coverage
Cancellation: Your device repayments are reduced by a monthly credit. If you need to cancel your plan there are no plan cancellation fees, simply pay out the remaining full cost of your device which will include paying the monthly credit value that Optus was going to cover.
Mobile TV and Music streaming: All for use in Australia. Fair Go Policy applies. Stream SD video up to 1.5Mbps & music up to 512kbps. Some streaming services require paid subscriptions. Streaming services subject to change at any time. Content such as ads, authentication & app analytics are excluded and will incur data charges. Streaming services may not have apps available on all mobile operating systems. Suitable for one stream per service on mobile & tablet devices only.
New Tablet Trade Up: Only available on the latest 24-month $30 and above plans. After 12 months you can pay a one-off fee of $99, return your current device in good working order to Optus and buy a new device on a new 24-month plan. Alternatively if you wish to keep your original device simply pay out the full remaining cost of your device including any amount that Optus was going to cover, then upgrade to a new device on a new 24-month plan. Data Pool: If you have more than one My Plan Plus (including SIM Only), My Plan Business (including SIM Only & Tech Fund), My Mobile Broadband Plus or Mobile Broadband Business plan on the same billing account, the included monthly data allowance will combine into one data pool, which will be shared by all the eligible services on that account. This data can also be shared with any existing Share Data Plan. Any unused data in the data pool expires at the end of each billing month.
Additional Data: Additional data automatically charged at $10/1GB. If you use more than 150GB we may continue to charge you at the same rates or restrict your data use until next billing period.

Usage Alerts: Usage alerts are not real-time and delays of up to 48 hours may be experienced.
My Account: Services that share data may have a service login to My Account which will display all service numbers contributing or using the shared data pool on the account, and the amount each service has used. If you have more than 6 services on your account you may not be able to use My Account to monitor usage or add/change alerts.
COVERAGE: With 3G devices, you can access our 3G (UMTS 2100 MHz / 900 MHz) network. With 4G devices and a compatible plan, you can access our 3G network plus some or all of our 4G Plus network. Our 4G Plus network uses multiple frequencies (LTE 700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 MHz) to provide coverage. Coverage availability will vary depending on your device and location. Check coverage at optus.com.au/coverage based on your address and device.
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC APP:
Fair Go Policy applies. The National Geographic App is a premium product available at no additional cost for viewing in Australia on eligible Optus plans for selected iOS and Android devices. Visit optus.com.au/natgeo for more info.
Available for Optus customers who are 18+ yrs, or 15-17yrs with parental permission, on a 24-month postpaid or 12-month SIM only plan, mobile broadband plans and active Fetch with Optus customers. Excludes Fleet, Tech Fund and month-to-month SIM only customers.
Eligible customers will receive 1 login per account, allowing concurrent use on 2 screens. Mobile customers may receive additional logins for additional service numbers. Mobile broadband and active Fetch from Optus customers will receive a maximum of one login per account. May take up to 4 hours after activating your service before you can successfully access the National Geographic App. National Geographic content will be streamed data-free on the Optus mobile network. Other content such as ads, authentication, app analytics, Optus Competition Page or links to third party sites are excluded and may incur data charges.
Access to the National Geographic App will be available for the life of your plan (unless you cancel or move to an ineligible plan), while Optus retains the rights. App is exclusive until January 2019.
The National Geographic App includes selected content from National Geographic magazines. Includes full magazine content from January 2009, a selection of 75 of National Geographic’s best classic issues from the archive, and web articles from January 2014.
