Optus takes a proactive approach to compliance with the federal Disability Discrimination Act 1992 through its Disability Action Plan. Under this Plan, Optus aims to remove barriers to access by customers, potential customers and staff.
Optus initiatives include the provision of disability equipment and information regarding the use of mobile phones by people who are deaf or who have a hearing impairment.
Disability Action Plan
The Plan was developed in conjunction with a Working Group representing peak disability organisations. Ongoing consultation with the Working Group is used to review and modify the Plan, to ensure it continues to meet the changing needs of our customers, our employees and our business. A full review of the Plan was undertaken in 2006, resulting in a new version of the DAP being launched.
