Optus has significantly improved its mobile coverage in Balranald following the installation of a new mobile tower in the town.

Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in regional towns and along important roadways.

"The objective of the new site in Balranald is to provide maximum coverage to the township, and along the Sturt Highway towards Hay in the east, and Robinvale in the west.

"The Balranald site complements recent new coverage in Boundary Bend, Mystic Park, Piangil, and Robinvale.

"Improved Optus coverage means that people living, working and travelling in the area now have a greater choice of GSM mobile network. I encourage locals to use our Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee, and put Optus to the test," Mr Lew said.

Optus has built more than 280 mobile sites in regional New South Wales and Victoria during the past four years, and has plans for more sites over the next year.
