Messaging and answering services for business

Don't miss that important call.

It could be a team member, your most valued customer or next business venture.

Every call is important; make sure you and your team don't miss one with our handy answering and messaging services.

Missed Call Service

Never miss that important business call again.

With Missed Call Service you get sent a text message whenever you miss out on a phone call, at no extra charge to you.

You'll be covered when you:

  • Are out of a coverage area
  • Have your phone switched off
  • Are busy on another call
  • Simply can't answer the call

Your caller can leave a short 10 second voice message or their number for a call back. We'll convert it to a text that you'll get when your phone is back in action. Great stuff, huh?

Turning it on, turning it off

Turn your Missed Call Service on or off in four easy ways:

  1. SMS ON or OFF to 159 from your mobile
  2. Dial 159 and follow the prompts
  3. Via the MyOptus App on your smartphone
  4. Online on your computer in MyAccount

Select your settings

Missed Call Service is automatically set up to apply to your missed calls, including allowing your phone to ring for 20 seconds before it sets in. But to make Missed Call Service just right for you just follow the instructions below.

Select when you want Missed Call Service Activation instruction
Setting how long your mobile rings before diverting Dial (*004*0411000160**XX#) and then press call.
The XX is the length of time, in seconds you want your mobile to ring.
For example replace XX with 05 and you mobile will ring for 5 seconds before diverting. Too easy!
The length of time must be in multiples of 5 seconds and the default is 20 seconds.

If you change the setting for how long your mobile rings for, you need to cancel this setting before turning Missed Call Service off or before you activate any other answering or messaging service. To cancel this setting change, simply dial (##002#) and then call.

How much does it cost?

Important notes:

  1. When you receive the Missed Call Service SMS message you will not be charged for receiving the SMS message. If you choose to return calls as a result of being notified of the missed calls from the Missed Call Service, normal call charges will apply.
  2. The callers who ring you will be charged their normal rates for mobile voice calls.
  3. If you call Optus mobile customer service to request for Missed Call Service to be switched on or off you will be charged the normal rates for a call to a 1300 number.
  4. Voice to text conversions: We cannot guarantee that all messages will be converted correctly. If parts of a message cannot be converted they will be marked or omitted. In some instances, a third party agent might assist in the translation of individual words or small portions of the spoken message. In these circumstances, the third party agent will only have access to the content of the voice message and will not have access to the phone number or name of the caller or recipient. If a message cannot be converted at all, a notification SMS will be sent with just the details of the number your missed call came from. This can happen due to a spoken message not being in English, or because of poor diction, poor connection, context or background noise.
  5. Optus is not responsible for the content of any converted Missed Call Service SMS messages. Optus does not censor or filter messages that get converted by the voice to text.
