Metro Ethernet Forum

The MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) is a global industry alliance comprising more than 150 organisations dedicated to accelerating the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.

MEF certification provides Australian businesses with the assurance of independent international standards, removing confusion arising from proprietary service names and overlapping options provided by service providers.

The Optus Business Uecomm Ethernet VPN network is certified for both MEF 9 and MEF 14 standards. Conformance to MEF 9 allows customers to specify their service requirements as per international standards while MEF 14 is the industry's first certification to include performance criteria and delivers a benchmark for Traffic Management Certification.

As the first carrier to provide Ethernet WAN services to business customers in Australia, Uecomm continues to lead the way in the development of the Carrier Ethernet market.

When you contact our Service Desk, you'll be speaking with an experienced local team member who has strong technical and engineering expertise. This means we can get started solving the problem immediately, and you can get back to business.

When it comes to billing, we understand it's simply one of those things that you expect to be right. You have access to a team of dedicated billing specialists. We don't have a call centre, so if you have a billing issue you can call us during business hours and a billing specialist will answer the phone.

We provide flexibility; your invoice can be grouped or separated by cost centres as defined by you; site specific or by VPN. We are also happy to provide additional services on request including month end emails that break down your charges in either Excel™ or .csv format, or an annual summary of charges for your end of financial year tax requirements. And to make things easier for you, regardless of the date your contract commenced for your Uecomm services, the Uecomm billing cycle is the 1st of the month aligning with most standard accounting packages thus simplifying month-end processes.

  • View Invoices, payments and obtain up to date account statements

  • View trouble tickets raised for your services

  • Monitor your internet usage (daily, weekly, monthly etc), including having the reports emailed directly to you on a monthly basis

  • Raise moves, adds and changes (MAC) requests directly with Uecomm

  • Order status information

  • Contact details and account maintenance functions

  • View service availability and interface utilisation

  • Test link connectivity and performance online
