We can deliver reliable Pay TV and other broadcast TV services to consumers right across Australia.

Optus HomeCast is a fully managed service that broadcasts direct-to-home subscription television (Pay TV) and other broadcasts via satellite.

Each HomeCast service accepts from your playout centre one transport stream of digital video television signals together with its associated programme sound, conditional access and service information. Each transport stream is then delivered via one whole dedicated transponder of the Optus C1 or Optus D-series satellites.

FEATURES

Tailored end-to-end - Optus HomeCast is tailored end-to-end, from the playout centre (in reasonable proximity to Optus network infrastructure) to the output of the satellite, so its transmission is seamless.

Coverage - Uses high signal levels resulting in superior reception and up to 100% coverage via small dishes throughout Australia and New Zealand.

An integrated service - The three main elements of the service are the fibre SDH tail, the satellite uplink and satellite transponder. These are established as a single integrated service. You are billed for one service, not the separate identified elements.

Fully managed - Optus HomeCast is a fully-managed delivery service.

Home delivery via small dishes - High signal levels enable the service to be delivered right across Australia (and New Zealand as well if required) using small reception dishes. The size of the dishes is an important factor as smaller dishes are available to the consumer at lower prices and are more acceptable to local councils and the general community.

Broadcast with ease - It's a fully managed service so you can concentrate on broadcasting, while we manage the transmission.

For reliable service Optus HomeCast is designed with redundancy and geographic diversity in mind. Full time operation centre visual monitoring provides a rapid health check with Constellation Analyser Quality Verification available as an option.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • DVB-S and DVB-S2 compliant.
  • DVB Compliant ASI Interfaces standard throughout Service. Split one-way terrestrial SDH tails for redundancy and geographic diversity.
  • Redundant uplink available as an option for services at 156o.
  • Specialist 24 x 7 technical support is provided by our experienced staff at the Broadcast Operations Centre in Sydney. Visual monitoring is used as a rapid health check of the service.
  • Terrestrial Tail Path Selection using ETR 290 service verification available as an option.
  • Constellation Analyser Quality Verification available as an option.
