Serviceability: Service is only available in selected areas on the Optus 4G Plus network with the modem supplied by Optus at the address specified in your application. There may also be technical or commercial reasons that affect your ability to access the service at your address. Check your service availability here. We recommend that you position your modem close to a window to maximise signal strength.

Speed: Whilst the Home Wireless Broadband service uses our 4G network, it is designed to be used in the home and its data speeds are different to mobile and mobile broadband speeds on our 4G network. In metropolitan areas where there is 2300 MHz coverage at your nominated address, download and upload speeds of up to 12/1Mbps are available. If 2300 MHz coverage is not available at your nominated address, download and upload speeds of up to 5/1 Mbps are available.

Your actual speed will depend on a number of factors including congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software and general internet traffic.

The SIM supplied with the modem must not be removed and will not work in any other device.

What happens if I move house?

If you move house, we ask that you check your new address on this page to make sure that the address is serviceable and see which plans will be available at your new address.

What is the speed of the service? Why does the speed differ with where I live?

The maximum speed available in an area depend on many factors, one of which is the amount of capacity available in that area. Because we share the mobile network with mobile customers, we can only offer higher maximum speeds in areas with lots of available capacity. In areas where we have 2300MHz spectrum, we have a lot of network capacity, and in these areas we offer speeds of up to 12/1Mbps (download/upload). In other areas we offer speeds of up to 5/1Mbps (as we have less capacity on the network).

How can I improve the signal strength?

Placing your modem near a window will maximise the signal available. Having a stronger signal will give you a faster speed, so this is strongly recommended. Conversely, we strongly recommend against putting your modem in areas like a basement or a centre room in your house where it will be more difficult to get a strong network signal.

Can I use a modem I already have?

No, you need to use the new WiFi modem for these plans to access this service.

What do I need to do when I get my new modem?

Your new Optus SIM for this service is already installed in the modem, so just plug it in and follow the simple set up instructions enclosed with your modem delivery to get connected.

I already have Optus Home Wireless Broadband. Can I get this offer if I change to the 200GB plan currently available?
