SLA
Optus guarantees the service availability of the SatData service, with rebates in the unlikely event that the guaranteed parameters are not met. Rebates are applied as a credit to the next monthly bill.
Technical overview
Optus SatData is a 2-way satellite service that enables private IP data services to be provided anywhere in Australia.
It is particularly suitable for applications that require large committed inbound bandwidth (Remote-to-Hub) such as videoconferencing, video surveillance and upload of large files such 3-D maps and images.
Optus SatData can be implemented as a stand-alone gateway connected to a single device or with an Ethernet connection to your LAN, providing data and Internet connectivity with the option of wireless networking.

- Enables IP data services with up to 62Mbps DVB-S outbound and with individual VSAT (Very Small Apperture Terminal) inbound rates of up to 4Mbps.
- Enables guaranteed bandwidth per site and ability to burst up to maximum limits in low usage periods.

What is Optus' satellite solutions experience?
Optus is the only satellite operator owner in the region and operates 4 satellites providing services to both broadcasters and VSAT customers. More specifically, Optus operates over 30,000 sites across its VSAT platforms. Services are provided across a wide range of verticals from government agencies (Fire services, Police, education), public services (Bureau of Meteorology Centrelink, education departments), mining, corporate, lottery, SCADA/monitoring.
What are the main benefits of a VSAT solution?
A VSAT network consists of a ubiquitous delivery of services across an area. For example, Optus provides data VSAT services that cover all of Australia and New Zealand within the same footprint.

How is end-to-end satellite service billed?
In a one-stop-shop application Optus Satellite Services will issue you a single monthly bill for the end-to-end service.
In the event of a service fault, the one-stop-shop facility allows for single-point-of-contact fault reporting. This means that you need only notify Optus of the fault and Optus will manage the fault rectification to conclusion.
Can I have different Satellite speeds in each direction?
Yes the choice is yours - satellite technology exploits the asymmetric nature of data traffic therefore asymmetric circuits (meaning circuits of different speeds in each direction) can be provided as well as symmetric circuits.
Can I order the entire end-to-end service for satellite solutions from Optus?
Yes. Optus provides a one-stop-shop service, which allows a customer a single point of contract through which they can order the end-to-end service from Optus.
