From 1993 to 2005 Optus held the naming rights of the Carlton Football Club's home ground known as Optus Oval or "Optus" to the fans. Optus then became the major sponsor of the Carlton Football Club with the Optus logo featuring on the famous dark navy blue guernsey.

Today Optus proudly supports Carlton Football Club as a Platinum Partner and as the Official Telecommunications Partner. The Optus logo is showcased on the players match day shorts.

Since the club was formed in 1864. Carlton has won a record equalling 16 AFL premierships, more than any other club with Essendon the only other club to achieve such success in the AFL.
