John Simon was appointed Managing Director of Strategy, Corporate Development & Transformation in December 2010. He is responsible for leading Optus’ customer experience strategy as well as the company’s long term corporate and line of business strategy including M&A and Regulatory.

John Simon has nearly 30 years experience in the information technology and telecommunications industries. Prior to his current role, he was the Managing Director of the Optus Enterprise and Business Group, responsible for all Optus’ business and government segments ranging from sole operators and SMEs right through to large corporate and government customers.

John has held a number of executive positions in the ICT industry across sales, marketing, products and professional services. Prior to joining Optus in 2001 John held the position of Chief Executive Officer, Australia & New Zealand for Worldxchange Communications and has also held a range of executive roles in Australia and Asia Pacific working for companies such as General Electric for 12 years, Techway and Telstra Multimedia.

John has a strong track record in meeting business objectives for both start-up and existing business operations. He has often led turnaround strategies across ICT companies through his broad range of skills experience and leadership.

John is married to Alison and has four children.
