Optus has received the Rural/Regional Telecommunications Award in recognition of satellite services delivered outside major mainland metropolitan areas.
Presented at the CommsWorld Telecoms Awards 2002, Optus Satellite was judged to have superior performance in the areas of sustainability, viability, innovation and reach.
Chris Hancock, Managing Director Optus Wholesale said he was thrilled Optus had received this award.
"This presentation recognises the extensive reach we are able to achieve through satellite services.
"Optus has recently had a number of wins in this space, including securing $8 million in National Communications Funding to improve educational services in the bush," Mr Hancock said. Optus shared this award with AAPT.
