The Thuraya Satellite footprint covers the entire Australian Continent and at least 200 kilometres out to sea*. Total coverage area of the service is depicted below. Areas outside of domestic continental Australia and 200 kilometres out to sea from Australia will be considered as International Roaming Calls.
The Thuraya system is a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite system designed to provide voice, fax, data and packet telecommunications services to users. Fax and Data services are currently unavailable.
*Thuraya coverage and service is not guaranteed and line of sight to the Thuraya satellite must be established to be able to make and receive calls.

The Thuraya SG-2520 (Dual Mode Phone) is the only tri-band 2G satphone that allows operation on three different GSM networks: 900, 1800, 1900 MHz and the Thuraya Satellite network.
The correct operation of the antenna is vital in achieving the best possible performance from the satellite mobile phone. Incorrect usage may result in weak transmission/reception performance and degradation in voice quality or call success.
Please refer to the product user guides provided with the satellite mobile phones for detailed usage procedures.
