- Optus expands its suite of mobile device management and security solutions to protect sensitive data and secure access to corporate networks
- New professional mobility consulting service and mobile apps online portal to help businesses meet customer needs
Optus Business has launched a new mobile security solution, mobility consulting service and online mobile apps portal to help customers secure their mobile workforce and better respond to customer mobile usage trends.
John Paitaridis, Managing Director, Optus Business said, “Our Optus Future of Business Report highlights the opportunities and challenges that organisations face as customers and employees demand more mobility. 95 per cent of IT decision makers surveyed issue smartphones to employees to access the corporate network while more than half of organisations allow employees to use their own smartphone devices at work.
“Optus Business is directly responding to these needs by enhancing our mobile device management and security offerings and launching mobility consulting services. We have also launched our new mobile apps portal as a means for businesses to gain insights and tools to help them better manage their mobile workforce and respond to evolving consumer trends.”
Expanded mobile device management and security suite to secure sensitive corporate data
With employees increasingly using mobile devices to access corporate data, Optus Business has expanded its portfolio of mobile device management and security solutions for enterprise customers. Optus Mobile Device Security (MDS) is a new solution that enables enterprise customers to easily protect and secure mobile devices. The offering follows the launch of Optus Mobile Device Management in 2011.
Optus MDS provides organisations with round-the-clock protection, allowing IT managers to deploy security policies onto mobile devices via a centrally managed portal. The solution is designed to help simplify the complexity of managing multiple devices to enable staff mobility and flexibility. It protects against security threats such as viruses, trojans, malware and other malicious attacks typically associated with desktop and laptop PCs. The solution also shields devices from malicious applications that may be downloaded from app stores, or sent via Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), Short Message Service (SMS), or email.
Optus MDS is available on Google Android, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry smartphones. The solution is based on Juniper Networks Junos® Pulse Mobile Security Suite.
Mobility consulting offering responds to growing demand for mobile websites and applications
Optus Business will also offer mobility consultancy services through NCS to help customers improve their mobile presence, functionality and application offerings. The initial service offered will help customers determine how to best optimise their web presence for mobile devices by assessing usage patterns and user experiences. The consultancy provides customers with a recommended content strategy and an outline of technology requirements to ensure their mobile presence is optimised to best leverage mobile technologies.
The Optus Future of Business Report shows 47 per cent of organisations plan to offer mobile websites for customers in three to five years (up from 29 per cent today) and 48 per cent plan to offer mobile apps (up from 18 per cent today). Almost half (48 per cent) plan to develop proprietary mobile device applications for customers in three to five years.
To help customers gain access to insights and trends in mobility, Optus has launched the Optus Business Mobile Apps Portal www.optus.com.au/business/theappspace. It is designed to help the mobile app development community share ideas, develop insights, tap into knowledge resources and discuss best practice.
