Optus and GlobeCast shoot for the stars with multi-million dollar satellite deal
Optus, the Australian leader and innovator in delivering satellite services, today announced an 11 year, multi-million dollar deal to continue to provide state-of-the-art satellite services to GlobeCast Australia. Demonstrating its advanced offering in this space, Optus held off aggressive competition to extend the successful relationship it has built with GlobeCast over the past 15 years.
GlobeCast, the leading platform operator for international channels covering the Australian and New Zealand markets, uses the Optus D2 satellite to deliver direct to home services across the region. The company specialises in live digital delivery in standard definition (SD), high definition (HD) and 3D as well as services for sporting events.
Vicki Brady, Managing Director of Optus Wholesale and Satellite said, “This agreement is further proof that Optus is the satellite provider of choice for Australian broadcast customers, delivering great quality and value added services. Optus continues to provide quality service and cost efficiencies that will meet the needs of GlobeCast well into 2022.”
Under the terms of the new contract, Optus will continue to provide a range of services to GlobeCast, including the provision of direct to home broadcast services on its D2 satellite. The services play out of the GlobeCast broadcast centre in Sydney, are uplinked from the Optus Belrose Earth Station in New South Wales and cover a customer footprint that includes Australia and New Zealand.
GlobeCast is the leading provider of services for international broadcasters in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, specialising in live digital delivery in standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD), as well as in 3D.
Mike Lattin, CEO, GlobeCast Australia said, “The decision to continue our successful partnership with Optus is testament to its experience and proven track record within the Australian marketplace of delivering quality satellite services that reach consumers across the entire country. I can honestly say GlobeCast would not be where it is today without Optus.”
“Our partnership with GlobeCast cements our commitment to and the value we place on our customer relationships. Optus is focused and committed to the broadcast satellite sector in Australia and looks forward to another decade working with GlobeCast,” Ms Brady said.
