Optus today launched its first consumer cloud service, Optus Smart Safe, to enable customers to back up, and store content from their mobile handset or PC and Laptop and access it easily online.
This innovative digital service is available free of charge to select Pre-Paid and Post-Paid consumer and SMB mobile customers from today and fixed broadband customers in the coming months as part of the starter pack, with access to 500MB of cloud storage.
Customers who are looking for more storage will have the option of adding either a 10GB Optus Smart Safe at $5.99 per month or 300GB Smart Safe at $14.99 per month. Optus Smart Safe gives customers peace of mind to store and protect their important data in a single storage product across supported mobile handsets and PC based platforms.
Austin R. Bryan, Director, Optus Digital Media said, “The smartphone is fast becoming the go-to device for customers in terms of accessing, capturing and playing back media and storing important information. This product enables our customers to safely back up that content, access it on their PC, and share it online.
"Utilising the cloud to create innovative and compelling offerings for our customers is something we've been working towards for some time. We're very happy to be bringing Optus Smart Safe to our customers - which is the first of many new exciting consumer offerings we'll be launching in the digital space in the coming months."
Customers with selected Optus smartphones^ who sign up for the service will need to download the Optus Smart Safe mobile client, which enables them to back up content from their handset. Optus Mobile customers can also install the PC client which provides automated PC back up functionality from their desktop or laptop - creating a converged storage space accessible anywhere with an internet connection.
Customers can then use the MyZoo Web Portal to manage their service, download and view backed up files online - getting the most out of the service and putting themselves in the box seat to unlock the true potential of their multimedia library. Customers can even share files with their friends or contacts, simply by sending them a link that allows access to that file - making their content accessible to others at their own choosing.
Customers are also able to set up Time-Saving automated back up as part of the Smart Safe offering - automatically backing up vital data and information whenever a change is made to ensure that new information is backed up and stored - in case of hardware failure or the loss of a device.
The solution has been developed by partner company F-Secure, building on Optus' partnership with the company to provide a secure and safe offering to our customers. To register for Optus Smart Safe, please visit http://optussmartsafe.optus.com.au.
