Frost & Sullivan Awards Optus Service Provider of the Year

Optus today welcomed its selection as the Telecommunications Service Provider of the Year in the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Australia Best Practices Awards.

Held for the fifth consecutive year, the Frost & Sullivan Australia Best Practices Awards recognise outstanding performance by companies in the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Australia.

The inaugural Telecommunications Service Provider of the Year award recognises strong performance in mobile, broadband, data communications and managed services. Optus is the first recipient of the award in the Australian market.

Optus emerged as the top-ranking industry player after demonstrating excellence in the overall telecommunications market, including strong business performance, market-leading revenue growth and technology and product innovation.

"Consistency of performance across the service portfolio especially in broadband and mobile services and ability to grow subscribers, revenues and EBIDTA margin in a saturated market riding on the back of product and service innovations have been the key determinants in the choice of Optus as the recipient of the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Australia Service Provider of the Year," said Nitin Bhat, Partner, Asia Pacific ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan.

"Having grown its mobile subscriber base by nearly 8 per cent in the first half of the current financial year in an already saturated market, as well as increasing its total revenue by almost 4 per cent, Optus has dominated the Australian telecommunication market during 2010. Moreover, its continued CAPEX investments and the increasing amounts of free cash flow it has been registering over the years also places the operator in very a strong financial position in the local telecom market," Mr Bhat added.
