Optus announced today a fresh range of wireless broadband plans just in time for summer. Optus' new 'My Wireless' broadband plans will offer customers increased data allowances, lower modem costs and a reduced excess usage charge.

The 'My Wireless' plan range includes five new Optus Wireless Broadband (OWB) plans, available on 12 month contracts, starting at $15 per month for 1GB of data or, for heavier users, $55 per month for 7GB of data, all with the reduced excess usage charge of 6 cents per MB.

"With warmer weather fast approaching now is the perfect time to use the internet outdoors. Whether you're soaking up the extra hours of sunlight after work or taking your laptop outside to work or study, wireless broadband lets you access high speed internet al fresco," Jeremiah de la Cruz, General Manager of Optus Consumer Products said.

"We've seen the popularity of wireless broadband increase over the last few years and have recognised the demand from our customers for more data to be included in their plans. My Wireless plans meet this demand by offering almost twice the data of our existing OWB plan range and also cut the excess usage charge of 15 cents per MB down to 6 cents per MB," Mr Cruz said.

'My Wireless' plans are available to new Optus Wireless Broadband customers as 12 month contracts. After the initial 12 month contract term, the included data will reduce but customers will have a better understanding of how much data they really need and will be able to freely choose the best plan available at the end of 12 months.
