Free live streaming of the Seven Network’s Australian Open broadcast on Optus 3G mobile
Optus announced today a partnership with the Seven Network to live stream Seven's official broadcast of the Australian Open 2009 tennis direct to mobiles, keeping fans across the hottest sport action during January.
Mark Mulder, Optus General Manager Content and Portals said, "We are very excited to launch this unique and innovative service for our customers. When Optus 3G mobile customers are out and about, they will now feel like they are courtside via their mobile.*
"Customers are increasingly using their mobile to stay up-to-date with sports, news and finance. Live streaming the Australian Open is another example of Optus offering leading technology and rich content for its customers.
"As well as the live streaming of Seven's coverage, Optus customers can access video highlights, Coach Roche video tips, player profiles and news, schedule of play, results, tournament information and downloads including wallpapers and mobile games," Mr Mulder said.
With the mobile streaming exclusive to compatible Optus 3G mobile customers, users simply need to visit Optus Zoo and click on the Sport icon or SMS 'Tennis' to 966 to subscribe. Optus Pre-Paid mobile customers will be charged a 22c flagfall to click the link in the reply message and per data session.
"The service will have two video news bulletins across the tournament, covering the day and night sessions so customers can catch up on the wins and losses and shots of the day as they travel to and from work or during their lunch break," Mr Mulder said.
Additionally, Optus customers can enjoy the Australian Open Scoreboard, player profiles, video highlights and games via the online site at www.australianopen.optus.com.au
"We are proud to continue our support of the Australian Open in 2009 as official partner and official telecommunications provider for the fifth consecutive year.
"This partnership has enabled us to launch this exciting service exclusively for our mobile customers so they can experience prime tennis coverage in the palm of their hand, in real time.
"We are delighted to be working with Seven to extend coverage of one of the biggest events this summer to our customers," Mr Mulder said.
Kurt Burnette, Seven Network Director Of Sales said, "We are extremely pleased to have the continued support from Optus as a network broadcast partner and look forward to working with them to ensure a very successful summer involving a campaign first - the streaming of Seven's Australian Open Tennis coverage live to Optus mobile," he said.
