Following the success of the Boxing Day release of Bedtime Stories, Teresa Palmer has returned home for the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT free winners festival to be held in Sydney's Harmony Park on February 1, 2009. Optus, MTV Networks Australia and LG Mobile Phones are thrilled to have Palmer back in the country to join the other members of OPTUS ONE80PROJECT judging panel including Sibylla Budd, Marcus Graham, Ben Briand and Michael Selwyn (Paramount Pictures Australia's, Managing Director) as they announce this year’s winner. The festival will showcase the top ten dramas short listed in the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT.
After a hugely successful event in 2008, the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT will return to
Harmony Park in the Sydney suburb of Surry Hills for the FREE Winners Festival on Sunday February 1, 2009. As the sun sets in the suburban park, guests will be treated to complimentary drinks and top notch catering from 'Plated', as well as a special performance from indie-folk sensation Bob Evans and a twilight screening of this year's top ten entries.
From the ten finalists, two winners will be selected and announced at the festival. The first will be chosen by the OPTUS ONE80PROJECT panel of judges including acclaimed actors Teresa Palmer, Sibylla Budd, Marcus Graham, first year OPTUS ONE80PROJECT winner, Ben Briand and Michael Selwyn (Paramount Pictures Australia's, Managing Director). The second will be selected by the public who have until January 30, 2009 to cast their vote.
Punters can enjoy the perfect summer setting in one of Sydney's newest parks, while relaxing on lounges and chairs that will be brought in to complete the perfect Sunday evening chill-out in the park.
The OPTUS ONE80PROJECT festival will be the final phase in a four month nationwide search for a drama suitable for viewing on mobile, internet and TV. The competition attracted a record number of entries from across the country with the finalists using a wide variety of unique and conceptual themes that could all be made into a distinctive and refreshing multiplatform program. Entrants were asked to submit a three minute pilot and script, which were then uploaded to the www.one80project.com.au website to be voted on by the public and the panel of judges.
Both OPTUS ONE80PROJECT winners will receive an amazing LG prize package from LG Mobile Phones including the stylish new Black Label Series Mobile - Secret, a 52 inch LCD TV, Home Theatre System, Notebook and DVD Recorder. In addition, the Judges Choice will get the opportunity to work with MTV production experts and MTV Australia's production facilities to develop and shape their original pilot into a full-length multi-platform drama. The completed final episodes will be shown first on the Optus ZOO web and mobile portals and later shown on MTV Australia in 2009.
Votes can be cast at www.one80project.com.au or by sending an SMS to '199ONE80' (199 663 80), each text costs 50 cents. At the conclusion of each week throughout the voting period, one voter will be randomly chosen to receive a weekly LG prize pack consisting of: 1 x LG Secret Black Label Series Mobile Phone valued at $749.00 and 1 x 32" Scarlet LCD TV valued at $1399.
