Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in Queensland (QLD) with the completion of new mobile facilities at Capricorn Resort and Frenchville in the Rockhampton region.
Mark Williamson, Director, Sales Northern Region, Optus said, "The new facilities will increase the depth of coverage in the area surrounding Capricorn Resort and Frenchville, and with the completion of the new site at Gracemere in May will complete a package of improvements to the Optus network in the region.
"Rockhampton is a diverse city and a popular holiday destination - surrounded by coastal and rural landscapes, the city truly is the definition of the outback meeting the reef.
"The new sites will provide additional capacity for the townships and ensure Optus customers who are residents or visitors to the area experience seamless coverage.
"Optus is focused on expanding its network in QLD. There have been several recent improvements to Optus GSM coverage in the Rockhampton and Yeppoon areas, as Optus continues its commitment to providing better coverage in places where Australians live, work and play," Mr Williamson said.
To date, Optus has invested more than $220 million to roll out over 760 GSM mobile base stations across QLD, providing network coverage to 96 per cent of the state's population.
