Optus improves network coverage in Moreton Bay region
10 Apr 2007

Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in Queensland (QLD) with the completion of new mobile facilities at Russell Island, Dunwich and Amity Point in the Moreton Bay region.

Mark Williamson, Director, Sales Northern Region, Optus said, "The new facilities increase the depth of coverage in the townships of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra Islands, Dunwich, Amity Point and the waterways in the Moreton Bay region.

"The Moreton Bay Islands are a popular destination for local and interstate visitors alike. The new sites will provide additional capacity for the townships and ensure Optus customers experience seamless coverage - even on the waterways.

"Optus is focused on expanding its network in QLD. These sites are designed to significantly improve coverage on the islands and waterways of Moreton Bay, serving both residents and the large number of recreational visitors to the area.

To date, Optus has invested more than $220 million to roll out over 760 GSM mobile base stations across QLD, providing network coverage to 96 per cent of the state's population.
