Optus improves network coverage in Woolgoolga North
05 Oct 2006

Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in New South Wales (NSW) with the installation of a new mobile facility at Woolgoolga North in the Coffs Harbour region of NSW.

The facility will increase Optus GSM network coverage at our existing Woolgoolga site as well as enhance coverage between Woolgoolga North and Halfway Creek and along the Pacific Highway.

Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "This expansion demonstrates Optus' commitment to providing the highest quality of GSM coverage in regional Australia.

"Woolgoolga is a popular holiday destination with its coastal views and beaches - therefore the new site will provide additional capacity for the township and ensure Optus customers experience seamless coverage during the busy holiday season.

"To date, Optus has invested more than $536 million to roll out 1,534 mobile base stations across New South Wales, providing network coverage to 97 per cent of the state's population.

"Optus continues to invest in the Coffs Harbour region, providing local residents with a real alternative to other carriers," Mr Hardy said.

John Welch, Optus World Coffs Harbour, said, "Optus has a strong network presence in the Coffs Harbour region, bringing choice and more affordable services."
