Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in New South Wales (NSW) with the installation of a new mobile facility at Salamander Bay in the Port Stephens region of NSW.
The facility will enhance Optus GSM network coverage in Salamander Bay and the surrounding area including The Salamander Sports Recreational Area.
Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "This expansion demonstrates Optus' commitment to providing the highest quality of GSM coverage in regional Australia.
"To date, Optus has invested more than $536 million to roll out 1,534 mobile base stations across New South Wales, providing network coverage to 97 per cent of the state's population.
"The new site at Salamander Bay, together with existing sites at Shoal Bay, Soldiers Point, Mallabula, Bobs Farm, Salt Ash, Anna Bay and Medowie South, increases the breadth of coverage for the people of the Port Stephens region and visitors to the area.
"The expansion of coverage facilities also provides local residents with a real alternative to other carriers and allows current Optus customers to use their mobile phones in more places in the region," Mr Hardy said.
Richard Goodall, Mobile Phone Service Centre in Hamilton, said, "Optus has a strong network presence in the Port Stephens region with plans to expand its coverage in Fingal Bay and the Williamtown Airport. It's a simple choice - if you demand great coverage in the area then Optus is the network you need to rely on."
