Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in Western Australia (WA) with the installation of a new mobile facility at Norseman in South Eastern Western Australia.
Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "The new site will provide coverage to the township of Norseman and along the Eyre and Coolgardie-Esperance Highway.
"The new facility is part of Optus' commitment to the WA Government to build an additional 94 sites across the State by January 2008, bringing greater competition across Western Australia.
"To date, Optus has invested more than $115 million to roll out over 325 GSM mobile base stations across Western Australia, providing network coverage to 91 percent of the state's population," Mr Hardy said.
Vince Troth, Optus State Manager for Western Australia, said, "Optus is focused on expanding its network in Australia.
"This new site will provide local residents with a real alternative to other carriers and allow current Optus customers to use their mobile phones in more places in the region," Mr Troth said.
