Optus improves network coverage in New Lambton Heights
18 Jul 2006

Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in New South Wales (NSW) with the installation of a new mobile facility at New Lambton Heights in the Hunter region of NSW.

The facility will enhance Optus GSM network coverage in New Lambton Heights, New Lambton and Kotara.

Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "The new site is part of Optus' strategy to expand our network in Australia, providing the highest quality of GSM coverage.

"To date, Optus has invested more than $536 million to roll out 1,534 mobile base stations across New South Wales, providing network coverage to 97 per cent of the state's population.

"The new site at New Lambton Heights, together with existing sites at Raymond Terrace South, Bobs Farm and Soldiers Point, increases the breadth of coverage for the people of the Hunter region and visitors to the area.

"The expansion of coverage facilities also provides local residents with a real alternative to other carriers and allows current Optus customers to use their mobile phones in more places in the region," Mr Hardy said.

Richard Cavill, Optus World Kotara, Glendale, Greenhills and Charlestown, said, "Optus is committed to increasing its coverage in regional Australia. With the new site in New Lambton Heights and planned sites in Salamander Bay and Fingal Bay, Optus is bringing competition and more affordable services to the Hunter region."
