Optus brings new Nokia Eseries to Australian businesses
21 Jun 2006

Meeting the needs of business mobile users, Optus announced today plans to offer the new Nokia E60 and E61 handsets. The E61 will be available to business customers from July with the E60 to follow later this year.

Noel Hamill, Optus Business Marketing & Strategy Director, said: "The new Eseries of Nokia handsets combine the power of 3G and WLAN with advanced voice services and mobile email applications to enable businesses to mobilise their workforce.

"With our strong capability in integrated communications, the Nokia Eseries on Optus is a compelling combination for corporate customers," he said. "Optus also offers multiple mobile email solutions, enabling businesses to deploy the new Nokia handsets using BlackBerry Connect or Microsoft Direct Push Email for Exchange."

The Nokia E60 and the Nokia E61, each with its own distinct design, are built on a platform that meets the security and manageability needs of corporate IT professionals.

"Nokia is delighted to be working with Optus to bring the Eseries devices to market and offer enterprise grade handsets built specifically for business users and IT Managers," said Vaughn Madeley, General Manager of Nokia's Enterprise Solutions business group.

"Our business customers want robust and reliable devices that meet the increasing demands for mobile connectivity and mobile applications. The Nokia E61 is the first release in the Eseries range and delivers just that as it combines 3G, WLAN and superior voice calling features with a suite of powerful applications and email solutions."

More Australians are using hand-held mobile devices to access corporate email. An Optus study in May 2006 found mobile access to email tripled since August 2005, from three per cent to nine per cent of users surveyed1.

Offering a range of local connectivity options such as WLAN, Bluetooth and Infrared and being USB 2.0 compatible, the Eseries handsets also double as a handy modem for laptop users.

The new business-optimised devices support remote device management based on OMA DM2 giving the IT manager powerful tools to remotely control and protect corporate data on the device and configure devices.
