Optus drops line rental in new plan
22 Aug 2005

Optus today announced its new "Optus Budget LineSaver" plan, a contract option for customers wishing to save on line rental charges.

Optus customers now have the choice of selecting a new home telephony plan with $24.95 line rental per month.¹

"Optus' new Budget LineSaver plan has been designed for people who might not make many calls on their home phone but are keen to keep their landline for a variety of reasons," Michael Smith, Group Director Marketing, Optus Consumer, said.

"For example, consumers who want a home phone for those few calls plus internet access will find significant savings in this new option.

"We have listened to our customers and in recent times developed a range of simple plans to give them greater value and choice," Mr Smith said.

Optus' new range of home telephony offers for consumers includes:

  • Budget LineSaver - ideal for customers who make few local calls but want to maintain a landline;
  • 'yes' CallSaver Plus - sensational value for customers who make a number of international calls, with costs as low as 2.9c per minute;
  • $39 HomeCap - offers $120 worth of long distance calls and is perfect for customers who make national, international and fixed-to-mobile calls; and
  • 'yes' LineSaver - for customers wanting competitive line rental with the benefit of FreeTime² capped calls.
