Toormina schoolgirl designs winning mobile phone cover
30 Jun 2004

Optus today announced Melanie Arnold from Boambee in New South Wales had won its design a mobile phone cover competition, run in conjunction with Dolly magazine.

The competition challenged entrants to create the 'phone cover of their dreams' for a chance to win over 1000 dollars worth of prizes, and have their design placed into production.

Stuart Tucker, Marketing Director Optus Mobile, said the competition reflected Optus' focus on youth and innovation.

"We were overwhelmed by the response and the quality of the designs submitted. The competition attracted over six thousand entries and more than three thousand votes," Mr Tucker said.

Melanie Arnold, winner of the design a mobile phone cover competition, said her frangipani design was inspired by her love of living on the mid-north coast.

"It is pretty exciting to see my design come to life, and know that it might be carried around on hundreds of mobile phones.

"I love design and found it fun and exciting to design a colourful, cool mobile phone cover," Melanie said.

One thousand copies of the frangipani mobile phone cover designed by Melanie Arnold will be given away in the August issue of Dolly.
