Optus set to further challenge competition
11 May 2004

Optus today announced that a newly formed Transformation Team would lead a project of change for the Company.

Paul O'Sullivan, the incoming Optus Chief Executive, said the Transformation Team would drive continued growth and improvement across all lines of business.

"Optus delivered another impressive set of financial results last week. We reported growth at three times the market and increasing market share right across the business."

"However, with growth in several key markets expected to moderate, now is the time to focus on emerging technologies and differentiation to continue the momentum."

"The new team will re-focus our strategies, confirm future improvement opportunities and keep us ahead of the competition."

Mr O'Sullivan said some of Optus' most talented people have joined the project, including Martin Dalgleish, seconded from his role as Managing Director, Consumer and Multimedia (CMM).

"Martin has transformed CMM and by appointing one of our most successful business leaders to head up this project, we are demonstrating our commitment to it.

"As a result of this project, we anticipate Optus will emerge as an even stronger competitor in the Australian marketplace," Mr O'Sullivan said.

Scott Lorson, currently Marketing Director, CMM, will serve as acting Managing Director, CMM.
