Optus improves mobile coverage north of Bundaberg
05 Apr 2004

Optus has significantly improved its mobile coverage north of Bundaberg, following the installation of a new mobile tower on the Bundaberg - Lowmead Road.

Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in regional towns and along important roadways.

"Bundaberg has benefited from the commitment we made last year to build an additional 80 base stations in Queensland.

"The objective of the new site was to improve coverage along the Bundaberg - Lowmead and Bundaberg - Gin Gin roads. Coastal towns north of Bundaberg, like Moore Park, will also enjoy enhanced coverage.

"We are confident people living, working and travelling in the region will now enjoy good signal levels, which is why we are offering a Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Lew said.

Local Optus dealer, Daniel Baldry, Manager of Network Communications Bundaberg, said the new site would provide customers with a greater choice of GSM mobile network.

"Optus also plans to build new sites in Woodgate and the Bundaberg Central Business District in coming months, to further extend its mobile coverage in the region," Mr Baldry said.

Optus has built more than 200 mobile sites in Queensland during the past four years.
