Optus has improved its mobile coverage in the Blue Mountains following the installation of new mobile facilities in Mt York and Blackheath Plateau.
Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in the important tourist area.
"The Blue Mountains has benefited from the commitment Optus made last year to improve mobile coverage in New South Wales.
"The objectives of the new sites were to enhance and improve coverage along the Great Western Highway. The Blackheath site enhances coverage between Soldier's Pinch and Collier Lookout, and the Mt York site improves coverage between Mt Victoria and Hartley.
"We are confident people living, working and travelling in the region will now enjoy good signal levels. In fact, we are so confident of the improved coverage that we offer a Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Lew said.
Derek Conibear, owner and manager of Phones 'n Furniture in Springwood said customers now have a greater choice of GSM network.
"Residents, business people and travellers in the Mountains can now enjoy the benefits of Optus' expanded GSM mobile network coverage.
"Optus continues to enhance its coverage, and has plans to build new sites in Linden South, Wentworth Falls, Watertrough Hill, Medlow Bath and Bilpin over coming months," Mr Conibear said.
