Optus has significantly improved its mobile coverage in the Gladstone region, following the installation of a new mobile tower in Benaraby.
Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in regional towns and along important roadways.
"The Gladstone region has benefited from the commitment we made last year to build an additional 80 base stations in the state.
"The objective of the new site in Benaraby is to provide maximum coverage to the township, and along the Bruce Highway between our existing sites at Calliope and Iveragh.
"Coverage between Benaraby and Gladstone, previously supported by our Boyne Island site on its own, will also be improved.
"We are confident people living, working and travelling in the region will now enjoy good signal levels, which is why we are offering a Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Lew said.
The new site at Benaraby complements recent coverage enhancements in north Gladstone, Callide and Biloela.
"Optus continues to enhance its coverage in Queensland, and has plans to build new sites in Agnes Water and Mount Morgan, in coming months," Mr Lew said.
Optus has built more than 200 mobile sites in Queensland during the past four years.
