Optus improves mobile coverage in Barwon Heads
29 Jan 2004

Optus has significantly improved mobile coverage in Barwon Heads following the installation of a new mobile tower in the town.

Rob Parcell, Director Victoria, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in regional towns and along important roadways.

"Barwon Heads has benefited from Optus' $90 million dollar investment in Victoria over the past year. The objective of the new site in Barwon Heads is to provide maximum coverage to the residential areas, including the southern parts of Ocean Grove, and improve signal strength along Barwon Heads Road, including the nearby golf courses.

"We are confident residents, business people and the thousands of holiday makers visiting 'The Village by the Sea' will now enjoy good signal levels in the area, which is why we are offering a 14 day Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Parcell said.

Local Optus dealer, Gary Work of Optus World Geelong, said the Barwon Heads site would complement recent new coverage in Mount Moriac, Anglesea Town North, Drysdale North, Lovely Banks, Torquay Central Business District, Marengo, Cressy and Wallinduc.

"Optus has worked hard to improve mobile coverage in the south west region of Victoria over the last 12 months and has plans to build new sites in Queenscliff, Eastern View, and Wye River over the next few months.

"People living, working and travelling in Barwon Heads now have a greater choice of GSM mobile network as a result of improved coverage," Mr Work said.
