Optus extends its mobile coverage to Woomera
07 Apr 2004

Optus has brought its mobile coverage to Woomera, following the installation of a new mobile tower in the town.

Harvey Marcus, State Manager, South Australia, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending its mobile coverage in the outback areas of South Australia.

"Woomera is the latest town to benefit from Optus' GSM mobile network expansion.

"The objective of the new site in Woomera is to bring quality coverage - and a choice of GSM mobile network - to the township and the airport. Coverage along the Stuart Highway will also be improved.

"We are confident people living, working or travelling through the town will now enjoy good signal levels, and we encourage locals to take advantage of our Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Marcus said.

Optus has built more than 100 mobile sites in South Australia - including Ceduna and Coober Pedy - during the past four years.

Future coverage expansion is planned for Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs, and Roxby Downs Airport.

Optus' GSM mobile network already provides coverage to 95% of the state's population.
