Optus enhances mobile coverage in Gulgong
07 Jul 2004

Optus has enhanced its mobile coverage in Gulgong, following the installation of an additional mobile site in the town.

Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus was focused on improving and extending its mobile coverage in the central west of New South Wales.

"The objective of the new site was to improve in building coverage to the township of Gulgong, complementing our existing site on Home Hill which provides on street coverage.

"We are confident people living, working and travelling in the area will now enjoy improved signal levels whilst inside buildings. This is why we are offering a Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee," Mr Lew said.

Local Optus dealer Daniel Naveau, Manager of Network Communications Dubbo, said residents, business people and travellers in the area now have a greater choice of GSM mobile network.

"The Gulgong site complements recent new coverage in Cobar, Bourke, Lightning Ridge, Mogriguy, Narromine, Nyngan, Trangie, Warren, and Wongarbon.

"Optus continues to improve its coverage in regional areas, and plans to build more new sites in Lithgow and Mount Coonambro in coming months," Mr Naveau said.

Optus has built more than 700 sites across New South Wales during the past four years, and its GSM mobile network provides coverage to 95% of the state’s population.
