Optus today announced additional coverage enhancement to its GSM network with the installation of a mobile site at Rainbow Flat, south of Taree.
Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile said, "The installation of this mobile site is part of our ongoing five million dollar upgrade of network coverage along the Pacific Highway.
"Optus users will now experience greater coverage between Cundletown and Tuncurry Road along the Highway.
"Not only are we upgrading our highway coverage and extending our GSM network, we are providing greater access for customers to work and live anywhere, anytime," he said.
Joel Rigley, Network Communications Taree said, "In recent months, Optus has extended its network coverage in NSW with new mobile sites in Bulahdelah, Elizabeth Beach and Bungwahl with plans to increase coverage along the highway further.
"Over the coming 12 months, new sites will also be built at Old Bar, Halliday's Point, Vincent's Lookout, Kew, Burdekin's Gap, Wingham, Harrington and Tuncurry," he said.
This coverage expansion is part of the Optus strategy to provide the largest GSM network on the east coast of Australia.
