Optus improves mobile coverage to Tumbarumba - Albury
18 Nov 2003

Optus has improved its mobile coverage in the NSW and Victoria Riverina, with a new site located at the important agricultural township of Tumbarumba, NSW.

Mr Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile, said Optus is committed to enhancing and extending mobile coverage within the Northern Victoria and Riverina areas, and bringing increased competition to the area.

"We are very pleased to now be providing Optus mobile coverage to Tumbarumba and its surroundings, including the major roads heading out of the town."

"We plan to continue improving our coverage to the Riverina area with plans underway to provide coverage to Corryong and Galore."

Optus has recently expanded its mobile coverage to Strathmerton, Chiltern, Tocumwal, Finley, Jerilderie, Corobimilla, Warragoon and Albury North, plus several sites along the Hume Highway between Albury and Melbourne.

Colin Hoffman, Optus dealer in Albury, said he has already received positive feedback about the improved Optus mobile coverage in regional areas. "At the Henty Field Day in September the support for Optus was overwhelming. This is the first time people in the area have been able to choose their provider," he said.

"We have received plenty of enquiries about when additional new sites will be activated," he said.

The Corryong site should be activated around the 10 December 2003
