Optus has continued to improve mobile coverage along key highways with new sites in Speed and Hopetoun.

Rob Parcell, Director Victoria, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending mobile coverage along important roadways.

"Our new sites in Speed and Hopetoun are designed to provide maximum coverage along the Sunraysia Highway from Lascelles to Ouyen and coverage improvement along the Henty Highway near Hopetoun."

"The Hopetoun site also provides coverage along the Rainbow, Walpeup and Yapeet Roads. The two new sites also provide mobile coverage to the townships of Speed and Hopetoun.

"We are confident mobile customers with car kits will now enjoy good signal levels as they drive in the area," Mr Parcell said.

Other recent improvements in the area include Warracknabeal and Donald. And Optus is currently building sites in Birchip, Charlton and Wycheproof.

"Optus is committed to providing people living and working in the Southern Mallee with a choice of GSM network for the first time. Optus has built 11 new sites between Portland and Mildura this year and there are more to come," Mr Parcell said.
