Optus continues to expand its mobile coverage in regional New South Wales with new mobile base stations in the Goulburn area. The sites are located at Black Bobs Creek, Crookwell and Cullerin improving Optus' mobile coverage to Goulburn and surrounding areas as well as extending coverage along the Hume Highway.
Matilda Hayman, owner of Goulburn Mobile Solutions and local Optus representative, said Optus is 'raising the bar' and is working toward improving mobile coverage for the local community and visitors stopping or travelling through the area.
"Increased mobile coverage from the Black Bobs Creek site will boost coverage at the Sutton's Forest Service Centre where many drivers stop and revive. And Crookwell residents can enjoy Optus' mobile coverage for the first time."
"Optus' new coverage extends between Breadalbane and Gunning along the Hume Highway. This is a further boost to highway coverage - over the past six months, new sites became operational at Marulan, Mittagong Bypass and Yerrinbool South," Ms Hayman said.
In addition, mobile sites are planned for Towrang, Paddy's River and Collector this year. Optus' network consists of more than 3,500 base stations nationally with plans to build another 400 in the next 12 months with a focus on improving its rural and regional footprint.
The network provides coverage to over 94 percent of the Australian population and handles more than 96 million calls a week and more than 32 million SMS messages each week.
