Optus today launched Optus MobileFleet, a tool to help businesses better manage mobile assets, phone usage and costs via a customised, online database.
Peter Acheson, Director Business Mobile, said Optus MobileFleet aimed to influence a more common sense approach to business mobile phone usage.
"Non business use of mobile phones is a major cost associated with running a mobile fleet. Optus seeks to help businesses change behaviour by encouraging responsible use rather than enforcing it.
"Optus MobileFleet allows for budget and usage parameters to be set for each mobile user in the fleet. The online reporting tool automatically highlights exceptions to expected use, enabling management to facilitate behavioural change by communicating messages to staff operating outside chosen parameters.
"Optus MobileFleet also offers a unique option called an Optus Dual Access Card which activates two services on the one mobile SIM, empowering employees to act more responsibly with their mobile phone and use the secondary service for personal use," Peter Acheson said.
In addition, Optus MobileFleet offers a comprehensive suite of other features designed to assist businesses managing fleets of more than 50 mobile phones. Features include:
- Multi-carrier bill consolidation;
- Online cost analysis and authorisation;
- Automatic alert notifications;
- Automatic links to the General Ledger; and
- Access to 12 months of historical reporting.
Customers have automatic access to details about the organisation, its assets, users and billing information.

Optus MobileFleet is competitively priced and is based on the volume of mobile services in the fleet connected to the database.
Optus has entered into an exclusive agreement with Cardinal Mark Australia Pty Limited to offer Optus MobileFleet to customers.
