Optus announced today its residential broadband customer base has grown to 125,000.
The broadband product, known as OptusNet Cable, is available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It has maintained growth of 1,000 new customers a week for the last six months.
Martin Dalgleish, Managing Director of Optus Consumer and Multimedia said consistency is the key to sustained growth.
"We provide a product that is consistently fast, reliable and stable. We offer personalised content and flat rate pricing.
"We don't ring-fence our users with exclusive content and we don't charge for excess downloads.
But we do empower our customers to search the best of the net for themselves," he said.
"Our product is simple to understand and easy to use.
"OptusNet maintains the highest level of customer satisfaction because of our ability to do the important things well."
In areas where it competes with other DSL and cable providers, OptusNet holds majority marketshare. Mr Dalgleish expects the growth to continue.
"Based on current run rates, we anticipate by early next year one in ten homes in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane serviceable by our cable will be surfing the net at lightning speeds via OptusNet Cable," Mr Dalgleish said.
