Optus provides fuel-injected coverage for Indy 300
15 Oct 2002

Optus is fuel injecting its CoWs to provide its mobile customers better coverage at the Honda Indy 300 event on the Gold Coast in October.

Optus will provide one large mobile base station or a Cell on Wheels (CoW) to deliver additional mobile coverage for the racing event.

Local Optus World store owner Cherilyn Brown said, Optus is continuously raising the bar when it comes to improving mobile coverage.

"Optus is showing its support to the community by providing additional mobile coverage for major events like the Honda Indy 300.

"Last year, the mobile network traffic increased due to the influx of motor sport fans. The event is expected to attract even more people this year and Optus is prepared for even heavier call traffic," she said.

As part of the Honda Indy 300, Optus mobile customers attending the event will see on their phones a display of various cell broadcasts about the racing event.

With more than four million mobile customers, a third of the nation's mobile subscribers are using the Optus mobile network
