Residents and visitors to Forster and Tuncurry can now enjoy better Optus mobile coverage thanks to a recent upgrade of a local base station.
Local Tuncurry Network Communications store owner Linda George said Optus is committed to improving the reach and quality of its mobile service to the Great Lakes region.
"Residents and visitors to Taree will notice enhanced Optus mobile coverage and better call quality in the CBD.
People will also notice an improvement to coverage along the Bulahdelah bypass and the township of Bulahdelah," she said.
"Optus has been concentrating on improving mobile coverage to the Great Lakes region and surrounding areas. Plans are being finalised to upgrade an existing base station in Nerong that will provide additional capacity along the Pacific Highway and to southern parts of Bulahdelah," Mrs George said.
In addition, Optus plans to continue to improve coverage to Pacific Palms, Seal Rocks and along the Pacific Highway north of Karuah in the near future.
With more than 4 million mobile customers, a third of the nation's mobile users are on the Optus network.
