XYZed Completes DSL Network Rollout in Two States
15 Mar 2001

XYZed, Australia's first purpose built national Digital Subscriber Line provider announced today that it had completed its initial network build in two capital cities and was on target to complete its total rollout of more than 100 exchanges nationally.

The DSL wholesaler now has 87 exchanges capable of providing high-speed, business grade DSL in capital city, metropolitan and select regional areas nationally making XYZed the largest alternative provider of copper based broadband services.

"Our network has been built to provide 'business grade', high-speed broadband access. We offer the guaranteed bandwidth and security that large businesses need for their mission critical operations," said Stephe Wilks, Managing Director of XYZed.

"Our network has a comprehensive national footprint that reaches approximately 75 per cent of large businesses and corporations, the largest users of high-speed access. It offers connectivity that is dramatically more cost effective than alternate high-speed options like leased line or ISDN services," he said.

"The XYZed network has already proven its capability to provide high quality business grade service. A number of retail carriers are re-selling the wholesale service to end-users.

"In addition to guaranteeing speed and service continuity we provide service restoration guarantees and provision services from our exchanges in just 20 days - much faster than the common industry practice."

XYZed's network includes 28 exchanges commissioned to provide DSL services in Melbourne and 13 exchanges ready for service in Brisbane.

The Melbourne network includes three exchanges in the CBD - Exhibition, Lonsdale and Batman and 24 metropolitan exchanges including: Brunswick, Camberwell, Carlton, Coburg, Collingwood, Flemington, St Kilda and Richmond and Port Melbourne. XYZed has also readied the Geelong exchange for services.

In Brisbane, XYZed has 13 exchanges ready for service with Spring Hill, Edison and Charlotte providing services in the CBD and eight exchanges providing service in metropolitan areas including: Coorparoo, Paddington, South Brisbane, Valley, Mt Gravatt and Salisbury. There are two regional exchanges, Surfers Paradise and Southport.
